FUSE QUALITY CONTROL

There are a number of processes that our overstock or surplus fuses undergo before we put them on the market. We wish to share them with you. They are listed in the following, but not necessarily in the order that they are processed.

Except for fuses that are in a box completely sealed (some are not sealed) by the manufacturer, all our fuses are visually inspected for cleanliness and labeling. If needed, fuses are dusted or wiped off. If the fuse's identification symbol cannot be read on the labeling, they are rejected from selling unless the end cap adequately reveals the fuse's identification symbol with amperage. We do not find this very often with our fuses; but when we do, we do not want to rely on what the seller tells us regarding the fuse's symbol and amperage. We want to be able to read it for ourselves.

All our fuses are tested non-destructively. An exception are fuses that are in a box completely sealed and any fuse with an amperage rating lower than the tester current used, usually below 2 micro amps.

We inspect that the fuses are structurally sound. Fuses with end caps cracked are considered defective and are discarded; even if they look or feel structurally sound. It is possible, however, that some fuses with very light or practically unnoticeable cracks on the end caps may get through our inspection. We do the best we can with our naked eyes to find these and destroy them.

We may sometimes use an ohmmeter to check for continuity, but generally we use an audible continuity tester with the following characteristics: Continuity testing (acoustic) 0-300 Kohm and Testing current 2 micro amps. Most of our fuses will undergo this test twice. Once before they are put on the market and once before they are shipped to the consumer. Fuses that may have been found to have intermittent continuity are defective and are discarded.

We do not mount, energize, or expose the fuses to a load. However, our fuses that pass our testing and inspection operation will go on to our marketing shelves and when sold are guaranteed to sustain an electrical energized load as the manufacturers' indicate.
